BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Ice Castles outside the Mall of America are taking shape, and will only get bigger throughout the winter.
The public can start walking through at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The castles will be open every day through at least February 20th, depending on the weather.
Created by Brent Christensen, the castles are made of icicles that are grown and then fused together. Christensen, who is from Utah, came up with the idea after playing around in his front yard a few years ago. In addition to the castles at the Mall of America, he's also opening some in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on Monday.
