Elk River set to install solar powered picnic table

ELK RIVER, Minn. - A Minnesota town has tapped a group of engineering students to create a solar powered picnic table that will soon be put to use.

Elk River and the University of St. Thomas have collaborated on a project that will help park goers power their phones and laptops while they enjoy the outdoors.

KARE 11's Kent Erdahl spoke to the electrical and mechanical engineering students who helped make it possible.
