Dylan joined KARE 11 in March of 2015. Before moving back home to the Twin Cities, Dylan was a reporter and weekend anchor at KHQ the NBC affiliate in Spokane Washington. He has also worked in Fargo, ND.
Dylan graduated from The University of North Dakota where he graduated with a Communications degree and Entrepreneurship minor. At UND he also interned at Studio One which is the campus news program. Dylan is originally from Buffalo Minnesota.
Dylan is happy to be back in his home state of Minnesota and helping provide context to the stories that affect our local communities.
When I was young, I wanted to be: A farmer! My grandparents own a dairy farm in Waverly Minnesota and I spent every summer working on it.
Describe your perfect day: Wake up early, grab a coffee go for a bike ride. Check out a brewery, keep biking (responsibly of course) then grill out on the patio. Perfect day!
Favorite vacation spot: Somewhere camping in the mountains or a winter vacation snowboarding in Montana, Washington or Colorado.
Favorite sport to play: It's Minnesota, of course hockey! But really a good game of pond hockey sweating in the middle of winter, can't beat it!
Favorite story you ever worked on: Covering Washington's largest ever wildfire in 2014. It was a horrible story with much destruction but people were so gracious to tell their stories because they appreciated all the information we were getting out in a life and death situation. You really felt like you were making difference.
Why do you like your job: There is always something different to dig into everyday and so many people to meet. It's challenging, I enjoy that plus providing context and understanding to stories I cover.
Family: My grandparents, my mom and step dad, my dad who has since passed, my brother and my longtime girlfriend have all given me all the support I could ever ask for!
