European Christmas Market to feature unique offerings

The holiday favorite returns to the East Plaza at Union Station Dec. 1-3 and 8-10.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Looking for one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and family this holiday? Check out St. Paul’s European Christmas Market.

The holiday favorite returns to the East Plaza at Union Station Dec. 1-3 and 8-10. The outdoor festival will showcase a wide variety of vendors offering beautiful homemade gift options. Market-goers will also enjoy seasonal music and European-inspired gourmet food and drink, holiday décor, crafts, clothing, accessories, toys, packaged artisanal food products, plus Santa and his reindeer.

Tina Volpe, marketing manager at JLL, which manages Union; and Christine Burbach, co-founder of Burbach’s European Pancakes, appeared on KARE TV to share market samples.

The European Christmas Market will join the roster of “Hub for the Holidays” events at Union Depot coinciding with: Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration (Dec. 1); “North Pole Express” Holiday Train (Nov. 30-Dec. 3 and Dec. 7-10); Holiday Movie Night (Dec. 1); and Holiday Bake Sale (Dec. 9). The event is free and open to the public.

European Christmas Market Hours:

Dec. 1: 4 - 9 p.m.
Dec. 2: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Dec. 3: Noon – 6 p.m.
Dec. 8: 4 - 9 p.m.
Dec. 9: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Dec. 10: Noon – 6 p.m.

Santa and his reindeer will greet children, and carolers will delight visitors with the beautiful sounds of the season. European-inspired foods will be served, such as traditional sausages, pretzels with mustard, pierogis, spaetzle, apple fritters, potato pancakes, eggnog, roasted nuts and more. The European Christmas Market will offer traditional glühwein (mulled wine), beer, hot chocolate and other beverages. Bike: Bicycle parking is located at the East Plaza/bus platform, North Plaza/4th Street, Kellogg entrances, Rail View Picnic Area and throughout the parking facilities.
