MAPLE GROVE, Minn. - The Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund held its annual Celebrity Golf Classic Monday at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove.
According to the charity, the Classic began in 1995 and raised $27,000. Now, according to the organization's website, it is one of the most successful charitable golf tournaments in the state, raising more than $5 million to date. The Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund was formed in 2003 to ensure all of the money raised through the golf event and other endeavors would be used to fund research and cancer-related projects locally.
