MINNEAPOLIS, MN ---- Get ready. Set. Open those pocketbooks and donate!

Give to the Max Day is the Super Bowl of fundraising for more than 5,000 charities, non-profits and schools in the Twin Cities.

"This is our biggest fundraising day of the year," said Heather Olson, director of corporate partnerships and marketing at Second Harvest Heartland, a food bank in Golden Valley.

On Thursday, Second Harvest Heartland hosted a 'Pack to the Max' extravaganza to coincide with Give to the Max Day.

Over 300 volunteers donated their time to help pack food all day long.

"This day is going to go a long way in helping to make a huge dent by providing almost 2.1 million meals to our community to meet our goal," said Olson.

Local organizations are eligible for hourly Golden Tickets on Give to the Max Day.

Give MN will match a donation with a $1,000 cash prize.

At midnight, Give MN will award one Super-Sized Golden Ticket of $10,000 to a lucky organization.

To donate, head over to the GiveMN website.
