MINNEAPOLIS - He spent years on the City Council helping to steer Minneapolis government, but Jacob Frey now has his hand on the tiller after being elected Mayor in a decisive win last November.
Frey faces a number of challenges, including shrinking funding from the federal government, a crisis of public confidence in the Minneapolis Police Department, and aging infrastructure. On Thursday morning the new Mayor was kind enough to drop by KARE 11 Sunrise, where he talked one-on-one with Tim McNiff about why he ran for Mayor, his vision for the city, and how he plans to break down the barriers that have risen between some residents and his police department.
He also took questions from constituents via social media.
