DULUTH, Minn. - An instructor at the College of St. Scholastica is attempting to run the Superior Hiking Trail in 9 days.
According to her GoFundMe page, the idea for the run started in one of Shawna Weaver's classes at St. Scholastica and blossomed into the current project.
Her goal is to use the 310 mile run to get a better understanding of the area's culture and community and use that experience to make a film about the region.
Filmmakers from Lola Visuals are following her along Lake Superior to film and produce the run into documentary.
Weaver started trail running after having spinal surgeries. Her GoFundMe page says she used it as a therapeutic hobby in the recovery process.
According to the Duluth News Tribune, Weaver started the run on August 22. You can follow her progress at 310film.com.
The Superior Hiking Trail runs along Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior.
