BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - With spring and summer road projects in full swing, there are many ways that technology can help with your work around the house.
For our "Tech Tuesday" segment, we visited the tech experts at The Nerdery in Bloomington for some suggestions for apps that can help. Principal UX designer Emily Schimittler offered up three suggestions:
Snapguide is picture-based app and website that provides user-generated ideas for various home projects. You'll find everything from arts & crafts to food ideas, to garden suggestions, to home remodeling ideas.
"It's a really great place to start if you're just looking for a fun little how-to project at home," Schmittler said.
OurHome is a kind of self-directed family incentive program for household chores. Users can set a to-do list with points for each activity. As each child or family member racks up points, they can earn "rewards" that parents can pre-set in advance.
"It's a great one to get the kids involved and teach them about the value of hard work," Schmittler said.
If there's a painting project at your home this spring or summer, Valspar's AskVal.com website can help you pick the right color for your project.
"You can fill out a little questionnaire with some inspirational ideas that you have, some pictures of your home, and an actual color consultant will give you recommendations for paint colors in your home," Schmittler said.
