GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn - Got a fall ‘honey-do’ list longer than our short autumn season? Before those snowflakes start to fly, Twin Cities realtor Jason Walgrave with RE/MAX Advantage Plus says there are some chores home sellers shouldn’t ignore -- especially if they want to get a jump on the busy real estate market next spring.

Walgrave says February is typically the launching pad for the hot spring housing market around the country, including here in the Twin Cities. He advises sellers to get out and do some chores now so that their homes are ready to go for that early spring start.

Walgrave suggests prioritizing the following projects: winterizing sprinklers, “degunking” gutters, seeding the lawn and planting bulbs, touching up exterior paint, and doing a deep cleaning of the garage, shed, and windows. He says checking most, if not all, of these things off a potential seller’s list will help entice buyers, even if they aren’t able to see the benefits or effects of them until spring has officially sprung.

Walgrave also recommends that potential sellers hold off on replacing the carpet or updating the interior paint until a couple of weeks before they decide to put the home on the market.
