GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Easter is just around the corner. What would the holiday be without chocolate?

Patisserie 46 co-owner and chef John Kraus stopped by KARE Saturday for a chocolate demo.

Kraus is one of 25 semifinalists in the country up for a James Beard Award, the highest honor in the food industry. Kraus was nominated in the Outstanding Baker category, from an original pool of submissions of nearly 35,000.

Five finalists will be chosen by a voting body of former Beard Award winners; Restaurant and Chef Award Committee members; and other regional panelists, and will be announced March 24. Winners will be announced at the 2015 James Beard Awards Galain Chicago on May 4.

Kraus is now turning his attention to Patisserie 46 Easter and Passover menus featuring savories, breads and pastries for brunches and dinners—plus a full line of his celebrated Easter chocolates.

Patisserie 46 is located in the Kingfield neighborhood of Minneapolis, near Lake Harriet, and is open daily except Mondays. For more, visit Patisserie 46 or call 612-354-3257.
