1 dead, 3 injured in Ham Lake crash

Three vehicles were involved and three people had to be extricated, according to the sheriff's office.

HAM LAKE, Minn. -- At least one person is dead after a three-car crash in Ham Lake on Monday evening.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened at Lexington Avenue and 146th Avenue at about 8 p.m.

Authorities say an SUV and two cars were involved. The driver of one car was killed, according to the sheriff's office.

The driver was identified on Tuesday as 21-year-old Victor John Karanja Ndau, of Blaine, Minn.

A mother and her two children, ages 8 and 11, of Ham Lake were transported to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. The mother, identified as Danielle Lynne Eakman, is listed in serious but stable condition. Authorities say she was conscious at the time she arrived at the hospital.

Her 8-year-old son was transported to Children's Hospital in serious condition and her daughter only suffered minor injuries.

All three needed to be extricated from the SUV, following the crash.

The third driver was not injured, the sheriff's office said. The crash remains under investigation.
