STILLWATER, Minn. -- A woman was injured after a boat crashed into the Stillwater Lift Bridge Friday evening - temporarily closing the bridge.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, a 1967 37-foot boat driven by a Marine on the St Croix resident attempted to get under the bridge as it was closing.

The upper portion of the boat was sheered off as it traveled under the bridge.

A Stillwater woman was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

The accident is being investigated by St Croix County and Washington County Water Patrol Offices, according to the sheriff's office.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation was called out to perform an inspection of the bridge before it was reopened.
