MINNEAPOLIS - Outside of a guy named Joe Mauer, there might not be anyone that fans were more interested in seeing at Twins Fest than Byron Buxton.

The big-time outfield prospect was a No. 2 pick in the draft and while he has yet to appear in a Double-A game, his name is providing hope for a lot of Twins fans.

"(I am) just honored to be able to get the chance to come and meet new fans and get acquainted with teammates," Buxton said.

Fans lined up for hours inside of Target Field to see him. It's the first time he's been to Twins Fest, which is designed to give fans a chance to get up close and personal with their favorite players.

Buxton's family joined him in Minnesota for the event.

He has received an invitation to attend Spring Training in Fort Meyers, Fla. He says he is looking forward to showing off his work ethic this spring.

"Most definitely. I am just going to go out there and just try to keep playing my kind of game," Buxton said.

Buxton and other position players will report to Spring Training on Feb. 21.
