MINNEAPOLIS - Police say an altercation over an attempted eviction led to a fatal Minneapolis stabbing over the weekend.
Officers were called to the 1900 block of Newtown Ave. N. just after 12:15 a.m. Sunday and found a man with stab wounds.
Police and paramedics gave the man first aid but the man, 34-year-old Billy Nunley, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say David Lee Hall III was arrested in connection with the stabbing. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center with "non-life threatening injuries," according to the Minneapolis Police news release.
According to the criminal complaint, Hall was trying to evict Nunley when the two started fighting. The altercation took place outside Hall's home.
Hall told police that he noticed Nunley had a knife in his back pocket, so he went to the kitchen and got his own knife. He said the two fought and Nunley lunged at him, cutting him on the arm and the back of the head. Officers on the scene did observe those injuries, according to the complaint.
Hall is due in court Wednesday, charged with second-degree murder. Investigators say he stabbed Nunley 29 times with both knives.
Police say there are no other suspects in this case.
