WOODBURY, Minn. -- A suspect is dead after an attempted robbery at a jewelry store in Woodbury on Saturday morning, according to police.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at the Johnson Jewelers located at the Seasons Market Shopping Center on Radio Drive.

Police said an officer was on patrol in the area when he noticed suspicious activity in the parking lot. As he was checking the lot an employee ran out of the store and told him a robbery was in progress.

As the officer approached, a shot was fired from inside the store. When officers entered the store they found the body of a man believed to be in his mid-50s. The man suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He is believed to be the robbery suspect, police said.

No employees or officers were injured during the incident.

Detectives are looking for at least one more suspect. They believe he is driving a blue four-door Chevrolet Impala sedan with license plate 621 NAV.
