MINNEAPOLIS - Police say a fight erupted in gunfire, leaving four people shot in north Minneapolis.

Authorities say those that suffered gunshot wounds are expected to recover. They were treated at area hospitals.

Around 9:20 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the area of 8th Avenue and Humboldt Avenue N. for reports of a fight. Before officers arrived, that call was upgraded to a shooting.

John Elder, a spokesperson with the Minneapolis Police Department, said one adult female was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He also said while officers were trying to determine what led to the shooting, they learned three additional adults received non-life threatening injuries. Those three transported themselves to the hospital. It's unclear if the victims traveled in the same or separate vehicles.

Witnesses on scene told police they heard multiple shots fired.
