PINE CITY, Minn. - Arson investigators are trying to find the person or persons responsible for trespassing at the National Guard Armory in Pine City and setting a vehicle ablaze over the weekend.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office says deputies were dispatched to the armory just after 10:45 p.m. Friday and on arrival they found a significant fire burning. Further investigation showed that someone had cut through the protective fence and started a military vehicle on fire.

Flames had jumped to a grassy area nearby: Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze in a matter of minutes, and keep the fire from spreading to vehicles nearby.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's office were called in to aid in the investigation.

Those who know anything about the armory fire or who may be responsible are asked to call the Pine County Sheriff's Office at 320-629-8342.
