MINNEAPOLIS - Police say the man was shot and killed Friday when he opened his door and called 911 for a man who claimed he was being chased knew the suspect.

The murder happened just before noon in the 37th and Aldrich Avenue North.

The 20-year-old suspect, who is expected to be charged on Monday, knew the man from the neighborhood.

"It is very unusual. We don't very often see a Good Samaritan become victimized by subjects," said Minneapolis Police Public Information Officer John Elder.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the homeowner had been shot and killed.

The suspect was also found inside the residence.

The victim's wife was also inside of the home, police said. She was not harmed.
