MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis Police are investigating an overnight death Monday that appears to be the first homicide of the new year.
Fourth Precinct officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Emerson Avenue North shortly before 2 a.m. after a report of a person down. When officers arrived they found a man laying on the sidewalk suffering what is described as obvious physical trauma. Police are not saying what the victim's injuries are.
Officers attempted lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where he died a short time later.
At this point there are no suspects in custody.
