ANOKA, Minn. - A man, who allegedly stole a truck, led several law enforcement agencies on a nearly 40-minute chase through the north metro Wednesday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol reports it received a report of a stolen tow truck passing the Ramsey scale at Highway 10 and Anoka County line. An unmarked trooper located the flatbed truck on westbound Hwy. 10 at 1:40 p.m. and called for backup.
Additional squads arrived and attempted to stop the driver, but he did a U-turn onto eastbound Hwy. 10 and fled. Several troopers deployed stop sticks in hopes of ending the pursuit, in fact, MSP estimates the driver went through as many as 10 of them, missing several others.
When the back tires were on the rims, a trooper managed a PIT and the tow truck hit the freeway wall and came to a stop on Highway 10 at Ferry Street at 2:17 p.m.
Authorities arrested the driver who has not yet been named. He will be booked into the Sherburne County Jail.
