ST. PAUL, Minn.- Two Minnesota teachers were awarded Teacher of the Year from the The Minnesota Independent School Forum Tuesday Night.

Josh Nutter from Carondelet Catholic School in Minneapolis and Stephen Vopatek from Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield were the recipients. Both visited KARE 11 Sunrise to celebrate the honor.

Mr. Nutter teaches Social Studies to middle school students. Mr. Vopatek teaches high school Chemistry.

"These awards recognize excellence in private education," said Greg Anklam, Vice President and Managing Director at RBC Wealth Management, awards committee chair and board member at MISF. "Private schools are known for the high standards they set. Those standards wouldn't be met without many amazing teachers, volunteers and staff; it is important to acknowledge their contributions."
