Explosion flattens home in Isanti County

PRINCETON, Minn. - Investigators are trying to determine the cause of an explosion that leveled a home near Princeton in Isanti County.

Sheriff's dispatchers received a call just after 4:30 a.m. Friday from a pair of turkey hunters who were preparing to go out when they heard a pair of explosions. Deputies and fire crews responded to a home in Spencer Brook Township and found the structure had been leveled.

Sheriff's officials say it is fortunate that the residents of the home were out of town, and that no one was injured in the blast. (Isanti County Sheriff's Office)

Chief Deputy Lisa Lovering tells KARE 11 that the residents who rent the home were fortunately out of town, and no one was injured in the explosion.

The State Fire Marshal is coming in to investigate. So far, the cause of the explosion and fire is undetermined.
