BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - A semi overturned and burst into flames shutting down Interstate 494 during the evening commute.
The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. in Bloomington. The Minnesota State Patrol says a preliminary investigation shows both the semi and an SUV were traveling westbound on I-494. Both tried to exit onto northbound Hwy. 169 when they crashed.
The semi, hauling air conditioners, tipped onto its passenger side. People near the crash rushed to help and free the driver before the cab caught fire. The state patrol says the driver of the SUV was not injured.
Allina Ambulance tells KARE 11 one person was transported from the scene with minor injuries and is being treated at HCMC.
The Minnesota State Patrol reports all eastbound and westbound lanes will be open by 11 p.m. Thursday.
