Harlem Globetrotters surprise Wisconsin student

On Monday, a member of the Harlem Globetrotters stopped by one of the city's schools with a special surprise for one student.

PRESCOTT, Wis. - A school's first state title is a pretty big deal, but it's not the only basketball excitement happening in Prescott.

On Monday, a member of the Harlem Globetrotters stopped by one of the city's schools with a special surprise for one student.

“For as long as I can remember, Ethan has wanted to be a police officer,” said Natalie Kranig.

Last summer, her son Ethan was sworn in as an honorary Wildwood, New Jersey police officer, all thanks to a family friend.

Ethan has a rare disease called Ectrodactyly Ectodermal Dysplasia, which means he was born with malformations and it also affects his eyesight.

The video of Ethan with the police force went viral, reaching and touching hundreds of thousands - including the Harlem Globetrotters.

On Monday, at Malone Intermediate’s gymnasium in Prescott, Wisconsin, Ethan received a huge surprise.

First, he and his fellow classmates were told to go to the gym to meet Harlem Globetrotter star Zeus McClurkin, who talked about bullying prevention.

But Zeus was also here to meet Ethan and to give some belated birthday gifts: a jersey, a basketball, tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters, and a Wildwood Police Officer Uniform.

“They have a special letter they want me to read to you. You are a true example of all the characteristic traits and qualities it takes to be a police officer,” said McClurkin.

Ethan will see Zeus and the Harlem Globetrotters in Minneapolis on March 31.
