GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.- On Halloween night kids all over the country will go door to door collecting and then consuming large amounts of sugar. Fitness expert, Chris Freytag, talks about the effects of sugar on the body. Not to be all doom and gloom (your kids can still have candy), but the long term effects of consistent over consuming of sugar are scary!

The World Health Organization recommends that you get no more than 10% of your daily calories from sugar. For an average, healthy adult, that would mean 25 grams, or about six teaspoons of sugar per day. Much of the sugars consumed today are “hidden” in processed foods, sugary drinks and sweets. Candy, cookies, donuts are the obvious. But things like Ketchup (1 tablespoon of ketchup contains around 4 grams of free sugars). Or even frozen meals, pizzas, yogurts, cereals, etc.
