BEMIDJI, Minn. - A Bemidji man charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl last summer has pleaded guilty to those crimes, plus the murder of his lover.

In court Tuesday, 33-year-old Jacob Kinn confessed to the kidnapping and assault of the child, who was later found by authorities inside a camper in northern Minnesota in June 2016.

Kinn testified that he and girlfriend Melissa Sue Norby had planned to kidnap the 5-year-old, but after killing Norby, Kinn took the child to his home in Bemidji, sexually assaulted her, then returned to Norby's trailer and set it on fire. Norby had been watching the little girl for a friend.

Investigators quickly identified Kinn as a person of interest in the case due to a previous child porn convictions and his relationship with Norby.

Kinn is scheduled to be sentenced June 26.
