MINNEAPOLIS - The things women whisper about are often Kerri Miller’s favorite topics to bring to her MPR radio show or her SmartSex podcast, but menopause?
“I have never done a show about this because it's a bit of a lift,” Miller said.
Well times up on that, Kerri is going to lift this topic to the front and center next week with Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Carol Kuhle.
“I don't know how far we have progressed past the whisper network around menopause,” Miller said in an interview for Breaking the News on Wednesday.
The event will be a conversation between Kerri and Dr. Kuhle to get real about menopause with an audience, and, take down some barriers women might have to openly talk about it.
“It’s so confusing not only to women but to their partners, their doctors, about what is the science and what is the art, what’s safe and what’s not,” Dr. Kuhle said.
“It’s also about aging, I don't know that women are totally comfortable with copping to being at the age of menopause,” Miller added.
We aren't because we live in a youth-obsessed culture, but we can't not go through this as women so we need to start getting real about what happens so we can take the fear out of it.
“You feel like you are aging because you are not sleeping well, you are having these terrible hot flashes. Sex isn't comfortable, desire is a big issue,” Dr. Kuhle said talking about common side effects.
