GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Night markets are traditionally found in cities across Asia, but on Saturday businesses in St. Paul will host their own.

Joining KARE 11 news @4 was Little Mekong Night Market Manager Kia Kehrer and David Simoukdalay -- the owner of Lao Thai Restaurant.

In Asia, night markets are common, and they provide an amazingly festive, carnival atmosphere where you can sample street food and experience the local culture. Kia Kehrer says they are bringing the experience of night markets to Minnesota.

Visitors will experience a great evening experience where the entire family can have fun sampling different kinds of food, buy unique handicrafts, and listen to music and watch cultural performances.

The night market is in the Little Mekong district, which is located at University Avenue and Western in Saint Paul. Take the Green Line light rail to the Western Station.

This year there are 5 dates for the Little Mekong Night Market: This Saturday, July 5th; July 26th, August 16th; September 6th; and September 21st.

There are 30-50 vendors this year.

Next year they hope to double or triple the number of vendors and hold the Night Market every weekend in the summer and fall.
