Heart healthy moves

You can reduce your chances of heart disease through regular exercise.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — We often think of hearts in February because of Valentine’s Day, but February is also National Heart Health Month. Unfortunately, heart disease is the leading cause of death among both males and females in the U.S. However, you can reduce your chances of heart disease through regular exercise. Lindsay Ogden and Micheala Barsotti from Lifetime Fitness joined KARE 11 to showcase some heart-healthy workout moves you can start mixing into your routine. Here are 3 of their top tips:

1.  Aerobic exercise, resistance training and stretching/flexibility can all benefit your heart health

2. Moderate activity, like walking, dancing or biking slower than 10 miles per hour, can benefit your heart. You don’t have to go all out!

3. However, high intensity training gets your heart and lungs working at peak performance, which has additional benefits! It’s best to mix up your training.
