ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- A team of firefighters from the Twin Cities is heading to Colorado to search for a St. Louis Park father and son who disappeared on a spring break hiking trip three months ago.

"We're seeing this as an opportunity to do the right thing for a family in our community," said Hugo Searle, a St. Louis Park firefighter traveling to Colorado.

More than three months ago, Damian McManus, 51, and his son Evan, 18, a St. Louis Park high school senior, went to Colorado's Mount Evans for a spring break hike in April.

Authorities found their car in the parking lot near Echo Lake, a popular spot for day hikes.

"They're not on the path," says Searle. "We will head into the back country and look for clues."

Four firefighters, from St. Louis Park, Edina and Eden Prairie, have volunteered to go to Colorado, months after rescue teams called of the effort to find the McManuses alive.

"We hope to to bring some closure to the family," said Searle.

Searle and the team will leave Monday and search from "sun up to sun down" and will likely return on Friday.
