GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Chase involving U.S. Marshals ends in crash near Hudson

A dangerous, high-speed chase involving a suspect fleeing from U.S. Deputy Marshals ended in a crash near Hudson, WI. Wednesday afternoon. The suspect is in custody and was transferred to Regions Hospital. Police say the suspect was fleeing in a stolen vehicle and was wanted for kidnapping and sexual assault.  According to a press release, the suspect, driving a Ford truck, crossed over into Wisconsin on the new St. Croix River bridge, and then continued south into Hudson at speeds around 70 mph. The truck partially hit stop sticks in Hudson but continued eastbound on I-94 without stopping. One Washington County Sheriff's deputy deduced the situation to be potentially deadly, so they performed a "Pursuit Intervention Technique," which involves the deputy ramming into the suspect's vehicle.

Couple wins cafe, changes the flavor of small-town dining

For the better part of six decades, the Cup N' Saucer operated among several bustling Sherburn cafés.  When it closed nine years ago, “The Cup” was the last to go. Like so many rural Minnesota communities, Sherburne has more than its fair share of empty storefronts, and when The Cup sat empty for two years, locals thought it was gone for good. That is, until Seth and Elizabeth Lintelman moved to town. Elizabeth won the café in an essay contest, and she and her chef husband brought fresh new foods to town. Parsnip bisque and shallot-topped baked carrots are on the menu now, with not a French fry in sight. Neighbors were skeptical at first, but now lines for the little café stretch out the door.

Help support your favorite causes in MN through 'Give to the Max Day'

Every year, millions of dollars are raised for Minnesota nonprofits and schools as part of Give to the Max Day. The 11th annual Give to the Max Day will take place today, Nov. 14. Today you can make a donation through GiveMN.org to causes that you care about and they'll be "prize eligible," meaning they'll have an opportunity to get a $500 gift added to their total on Give to the Max Day. They could even have $1,000 or even $10,000 added. Over the course of 11 years, more than 12,000 organizations have received a total of more than $200 million through Give to the Max Day. Last year alone, nearly 6,000 organizations received more than $21 million.
