MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota police say two juveniles were arrested after "brandishing metal pipes" at a Minneapolis light rail station on Friday evening.

According to UMPD, officers were dispatched to the East Bank Light Rail station on Washington Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. Friday on a report that a "group of individuals were threatening people."

Police say the suspects, seven juvenile boys, ran away but were stopped by police. Two of them were identified by video surveillance and witness descriptions as being the ones who had been "brandishing metal pipes towards others on the light rail platform," according to the police report.

Those two juveniles were arrested for disorderly conduct and fleeing police. The rest of the juveniles were released.

UMPD says there were no known injuries.

Police say because the suspects are juveniles, there is limited information available. The two metal pipes were recovered at the station.
