BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Seven skiers had to be rescued Thursday morning after a chair lift became stuck at a Bloomington ski and snowboard area.

The north chair lift at Three Rivers Park District's Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area malfunctioned shortly after 10:30 a.m. Three Rivers Park District Spokesman Tom Knisley says members of the ski patrol used ropes to lower seven skiers stranded on the lift to the ground.

Knisley says no one was injured in the incident, and adds that the lift will stay closed until the problem is found and repaired. He believes the last time a chair lift had to be evacuated at Hylands was five years ago.

Members of Hyland's Ski Patrol train regularly to carry out this kind of rescue.
