ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Brazen car thieves were caught on camera as they broke into a garage at a St. Louis Park apartment complex off of Ford Road.

According to police, it's just one of 48 car thefts in the city so far this year. In 2015, there were a total of 54 cars stolen.

"I think he was buzzed in by somebody in our building, He seemed like he knew the layout he went down to the elevator to the garage," said Micky Bjorklund, who is the property manager.

She says the thieves sifted through a few cars before opening up a resident's unlocked Honda Accord, taking the spare key and driving off in it.

"They were shocked. Residents were shocked. We also had stolen golf clubs, a Corvette that was sifted through -- so they did spend some time down there trying to find things," said Bjorklund.

She says she's heard of other cars in St. Louis Park being stolen. However, police say there's no pattern or increase in car thefts.

Bjorklund says she is concerned that these thieves could come back.

"That's what I'm afraid of, I'm afraid of them coming back because I feel if they were successful the first time they might try again," said Bjorklund.

The property manager says the thieves were in and out within 20 minutes. Police say they want to remind everyone to lock their cars and to never leave a spare key in your car. If you have any information, call police.
