Winter Carnival ice palace begins to take shape

It's the festival's first ice palace in 14 years.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Progress is being made on the ice palace for the upcoming St. Paul Winter Carnival.

A couple of the towers have been built already on the palace in Rice Park. About four-thousand ice blocks are being used to construct the palace over the course of two weeks.

This is the first ice palace built for the annual celebration in 14 years. Organizers say construction will be complete in time for the start of the Winter Carnival on Thursday, January 25th.
