YMCA staff rescues woman during water exercise class

The staff pulled the victim out of the pool, began CPR and used an AED before paramedics arrived and transported her to the hospital.

EDINA, Minn. — The Edina Police Department credits members of the YMCA staff for saving a woman's life during a water exercise class Monday.

According to YMCA spokesperson Joan Schimml, a 70-year-old woman was rescued after experiencing a medical emergency in the pool at the YMCA Southdale.

Schimml said that staff pulled her out of the pool, began CPR and used an AED before paramedics arrived and transported her to the hospital.

The Edina Police Department said in a tweet that the staff's swift action saved the woman's life.

Schimml did not have an update on the victim's condition.
