HASTINGS, Minn. - A judge has denied a request from a Lakeville woman convicted of hiding her two daughters to serve her prison time all at once.
Sandra Grazzini-Rucki wanted to serve up to eight months in prison instead of six years of probation and 15 days in jail each year until 2022. One of Grazzini-Rucki's attorneys says the decision by the Dakota County judge Monday is "legally questionable," adding that the ruling is "an irrational act."
The Star Tribune reports attorney Stephen Grisby says the prosecutor agreed to let Grazzini-Rucki serve her time all at once. She was convicted of hiding her two teenage daughters from their father during a bitter divorce. The girls were found at a ranch in Herman in October 2015, about a year and a-half after they disappeared.
