Plea deal for driver who killed Wayzata officer

According to the Hennepin County Attorney's office, Beth Freeman will plead guilty to criminal vehicular homicide and be sentenced to just over eight years in prison.

MINNEAPOLIS - The woman accused of being on her phone and high on drugs when she hit and killed a Wayzata police officer has reached a plea deal.

According to the Hennepin County Attorney's office, Beth Freeman will plead guilty to criminal vehicular homicide and be sentenced to just over eight years in prison.

In exchange, two other charges against her will be dropped.

Freeman allegedly hit and killed Officer Bill Mathews on Highway 12 last September as he was cleaning debris from the road.
