BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Comfort Inn in Bloomington early Saturday morning, according to Bloomington police.
Police say they got multiple calls about shots fired at the Comfort Inn on 78th Street just after 4 a.m. When officers arrived, they found two men in the lobby with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. They were brought to the Hennepin County Medical Center.
A third man had been shot but left the scene, according to police, and was later located at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury. He was then transferred to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
Police say the shooting appeared to be the result of a robbery targeting a large number of recently purchased cell phones. The victims were loading their vehicle after spending the night at the hotel, when they were confronted by the suspects, according to police.
A 21-year-old from Joliet, Illinois, and a 28-year-old from Aurora, Illinois, are both in custody. Police say all three victims were from Chicago.
Bloomington police and the Hennepin County Crime Lab are investigating.
