ST. PAUL, Minn. - Many of Minnesota's hundreds of thousands of immigrants say they're closely watching this year's presidential election given the major-party candidates' contrasting views on immigration.
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton wants humane enforcement of immigration laws and a pathway to citizenship, while Republican Donald Trump has called for mass deportations of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally and stricter rules for handling refugees.
Latino businessman and Trump supporter Rick Aguilar lives in St. Paul. He tells MPR News that he believes Trump initially spoke too harshly and broadly about immigrants, but that he agrees with his border security concern.
St. Paul resident Jose Gonzalez was born in Mexico and became a U.S. citizen 30 years ago. He agrees with Clinton and believes citizenship must be accessible and affordable.
