GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Former Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier was fired on Monday and hired on Friday as the new defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to an ESPN report via Twitter.

Reporter Josina Anderson said that she received a text on Friday night from Frazier that he was "going to Tampa."

Frazier will join former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith in Tampa Bay. Smith was hired this week by the Bucs.

Frazier is also familiar with the Cover 2 scheme. Both Smith and Frazier served under Tony Dungy during their careers.
