Rescued pets arrive in Minnesota from Houston

Volunteers and shelter employees drove dozens of dogs and cats to Minnesota from hurricane-ravaged Houston.

DAYTON, Minn. - Dozens of dogs and cats rescued from Hurricane Harvey in Houston will be finding new homes in Minnesota.

The 69 animals were picked up in Houston on Saturday and arrived at two shelters on Sunday: Angel of Hope in Dayton, and Ruff Start in Princeton. They were driven by volunteers and workers from both shelters.

Ruff Start has foster homes for all the dogs, and Angel of Hope will place the cats in foster homes as well.

The journey was organized by volunteers Tena Lundquist Faust and Tama Lundquist, co-presidents of Houston PetSet. They did it in honor of their father, who was planning a similar transport before his sudden death in December of last year.
