MINNEAPOLIS - Sun Country Airlines announced a refresh to the interior of their planes Wednesday, adjusting both the layout and the seats themselves.

In a memo to staff, President and CEO Jude Bricker said the new seat options will include free in-seat power, streaming entertainment to personal devices, a full tray table and reclining options. The seats will now be available in three options: standard, "extra leg room" and a premium seat.

In addition, they're eliminating the traditional first class section and instead, offering customers who purchase the "premium seats" additional leg room, more recline and comfort for a lower price than its previous First Class tickets.

"We will continue to offer our complimentary soft drink service, and an expanded buy-on-board food option for all passengers," he writes. "However, we will no longer offer the complimentary meal service that has been part of our First Class product."

If all goes as planned, the new seats will be available for travelers starting in 2019.

"This decision may be unpopular with some of our longtime flyers, but we want to offer a product that is great for our customers while also ensuring the health of our company," he said.
