MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee is still looking for companies to get involved in Super Bowl LII.

Minnesota is known for its top-notch companies and U.S. Bank Chairman and Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee Chair Richard Davis said their support helped the state secure the bid.

Davis played an important role in pitching the "Bold North."

"The best thing I could say to them, and other cities don't usually do this, is I had a high percentage of the private funds in hand before we made the bid. That's because we gathered twice with the large company partners around the state of Minnesota," Davis said.

Davis said out of the large companies they went to in the beginning, about 90 percent said they were on board.

"It's one of the very rare, fully private funded games. But for some small tax benefits that we've engaged with the state legislature, it is a fully funded private game," Davis said.

H.B. Fuller is one of the founding host sponsors for Super Bowl LII. The 130-year-old company--based in Vadnais Heights--is a world leader in producing industrial adhesives.

"This is a great business community. We're only as good as the employees that we're able to attract and the people we're able to attract to this community. So being a part of continuing to make Minnesota great is what attracted us to being a part of it," said H.B. Fuller CEO Jim Owens.

As a sponsor, companies have to put up money to help support the game but there's more to it. H.B. Fuller has employees who will be volunteering during the 10-day event, as well as some employees who are helping organize parts of Super Bowl LII.

"We're inviting customers here to Minnesota throughout the year to show off the game, to show off our company," Owens said. "So this is just a chance for us to celebrate our company with our employees and with our customers."

According to Davis, they are about 80 percent where they want to be when it comes to sponsors. There are still opportunities for suites, seats and sponsorships but Davis said they are getting down to the last level.
