Keenum to start at QB for Vikings Sunday

Coach Mike Zimmer didn't elaborate much when asked how he decided QB Case Keenum would start this Sunday, but admitted performance that led to 38 points against Washington was a factor.
With Sam Bradford scratched again, backup QB Case Keenum will start against Baltimore this Sunday.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - After building a bit of drama earlier in the week Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer opted for the status quo, announcing that Case Keenum would start this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

Zimmer didn't elaborate much when asked how he made his decision, but said Keenum's performance that led to 38 points against Washington was a factor. The Vikings have won five straight games with some strong performances by Keenum, so a change now isn't necessary, but Teddy Bridgewater's return from injury makes it almost inevitable that he will reclaim the starters job at some point.

When asked if Bridgewater was ready to play, Zimmer answered brusquely "Yes.. otherwise he wouldn't be dressed."

The coach had earlier refused to say who would start at quarterback against the Rams, saying cryptically "I've got a plan, and we'll just see how it goes."

Bridgewater has not played in a non-preseason game in more than 22 months after suffering a career threatening knee injury.
