MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Vikings defensive front just got a lot stronger.

On Friday, the Vikings signed defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson to a one-year deal. Terms of the deal are not yet known.

Richardson was the 13th overall pick by the Jets in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent the past season with the Seahawks.

The 27-year-old Richardson has 286 tackles and 19 sacks in his career.

"I'm not the predicting type, but that's what every team is chasing," Richardson said when asked if this upcoming season was Super Bowl or bust for the Minnesota Vikings. "This is the best fit for me to go do that."

Richardson served a four-game suspension in 2015 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He was also suspended for the 2016 season opener for an arrest in Missouri for driving at high speeds and resisting arrest.
