Nigerian bobsled team makes Olympic history

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea - Seun Adigun and Akuoma Omeoga, a St. Paul native, made history in 52.21 seconds on Tuesday, finishing their first run in the women’s bobsled to become the first athletes from an African nation to compete in bobsled.

Both celebrated the accomplishment at the bottom of the hill. Watch their historic run here.

Adigun and Omeoga are former track athletes -- Adigun ran at in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2012 Olympics and Omeoga sprinted at the University of Minnesota. KARE 11 spoke to Omeoga's parents last week in St. Paul.

They will compete in the second day of women’s bobsled competition on Wednesday. You can live stream the event at 5:40 a.m.
