ATLANTA - The North American Soccer League Spring Championship is coming down to the final two games and on Saturday the Minnesota United FC got a big win.

The United topped the Atlanta Silverbacks 2-1.

The two teams were even at 0-0 after a sloppy first 45 minutes that saw few chances for either team. The weather was hot and humid to start, and both teams seemed to be playing with heavy feet.

Minnesota got on the board first, when Christian Ramirez took the ball to the endline and lashed a cross shot into the box, where Greg Jordan found space and flicked a header into the left of the goal.

In the 71st minute, Ramirez cut through scored on a header off of a free kick, but the assistant referee flagged him for offside. Less than a minute later, the United earned a nearly identical free kick on the opposite side of the field. This time, the ball went far post, where Ramirez was nearly all alone. He headed the ball straight into the net for his fifth of the season and sixth in all competitions to put the Loons up 2-0.

Atlanta scored in the 85th minute, but Minnesota held on for the 2-1 victory.

They will win the Spring Championship if they win or draw against Tampa Bay next Saturday.
