Jay grew up right here in Minnesota graduating from Mound-Westonka High School and hasn't strayed too far from home in his career. Jay has worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor most recently in Milwaukee, but also spent time in Green Bay and Billings, Montana.
Jay was on a team of journalists who won an Edward R. Murrow award for "Continuing Coverage" of a teacher's strike. He's also won several other awards, including an award for "Best Live Shot."
Why do you like your job?
I love to learn. I love to tell stories. And I love being able to make a difference in someone's life
I love playing golf. Eating is always fun to do. Exercising not so much. Watching movies used to be at the top of the list, but then my wife and I had a daughter and she basically runs the ship.
Fletch or anything with Chevy Chase that I can quote. I have a pointless knowledge of movie quotes.
Describe your perfect day:
Besides working incredibly hard at KARE 11? (Just in case the boss reads this).
Anything that my wife and daughter are a part of is a good day.
The birth of my daughter
